Vassilopita Traditional


  • 250 grams margarine
  • 2 fl. sugar
  • 6 eggs
  • 1 fl. milk
  • 1/2 pound of raw meat
  • 1 glass of cognac
  • 1 orange (zest)
  • 1 vanilla
  • 2 κ. G. mahlepi sharpened
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 1 Mr. baking powder
  • 1 fl. almonds roasted roughly

How to make?

1. Sift the flour with the baking powder. Beat the margarine with sugar and salt until they whiten and soften. Add one egg yolk one, and then pour the zest, millet, vanilla, milk and cognac.

2. Beat the egg whites in a tight meringue. Pour in the mixture of yolks alternately flour with the meringue, gently folding with a spatula. Finally, add the coarsely ground almonds and mix lightly.

3. Pour a No. 30 pan with margarine and empty the mixture. Add the coin and, if you wish, sprinkle the almond kale. Bake in a preheated oven at 180 ° C for about 55 minutes. Let stand for 5 minutes and remove it from the baking pan to cool. Sift over, also if we want, powdered sugar.
