Karydata Melomakarona


  • 3 fl. (may need a bit more) flour c. Oh
  • 1 Mr. baking powder
  • 1 Mr. cinnamon
  • 1/2 Mr. cloves
  • 1 fl. olive oil
  • 1/2 fl. sugar
  • 1/2 Mr. soda
  • 1/2 fl. Orange juice
  • 1/3 fl. cognac
  • 1 fl. ground walnuts (we keep little for garnish)
  • 1 orange (zest)
  • For the syrup
  • 1 fl. sugar
  • 1 fl. thyme honey
  • 1 fl. water
  • cinnamon wood
  • lemon peel

How to make?

For melomacarona with walnuts, first sift the flour and baking powder into a bowl. Add the spices.

In another bowl, mix the olive oil with the sugar and whisk by wire or by hand, melt the sugar. Dissolve the soda in the orange juice and pour it into the oil. Add cognac, zucchini and ground nut. We slowly add the sieved materials. Start and knead by hand. The dough must be soft, supple and greasy.

We straw a melomakarona and we distribute them in sheets with distance. Bake in a well preheated oven for about 25 to 180 o C to brown. Allow them to cool well.

For the syrup

Boil all materials at moderate heat for 8-10. Leave it on low heat and a few pour and syrup cold melomakarona. Season them on a platter and sprinkle them with grated nuts.
